What kind of art can be submitted here?

The best examples you may find in the Featured folder. The group does not support photography, photomanipulation and 3D, but you may submit them to our favourites. For further info about the folders just see their descriptions inside.

No sweet pinky things. No abstract (don't confuse abstract with surreal). No Disneyish, shiny, sparkling, make-me-vomit-of-perfection creatures. No cliche gothic pictures like from Victoria Francis. In most cases manga won't be accepted either - there are really awesome manga pictures, of course, but it's just everywhere around dA, let's take a little rest from it.

Think of brothers Grimm, think of Discworld, of Tolkien, of Moomins, Lovecraft, Poe, of legends, of the Golden Age of Illustration, of imagination, of some twisted stories and myths, vintage stuff - you will get an extra smile from me, if you illustrate something. Another one for subtle, storytelling things. For conteptual. For sublime colours.

You can submit up to two deviations per week.
Storaged deviations will be removed from the group.

    Keep it clean.

Deviations containing nudity are accepted as long as they are kept sane and decent. The reproduction of traditional art must be perfect (watermarks are good), no sketches, empty linearts or WIPs (plain white backgrounds behind stiff standing characters aren't much welcomed, too). Also remember, literature creations in English only are accepted. Fan art is fine. When submitting things like sculptures, jewerly or clothing, please send just one nice photo of one thing, not 10. And sorry, too low skills won't be accepted.

If I notice you stealing art from others, you will be immidiately
and permamently kicked out, and also reported to the dA staff.

Do not be angry and discouraged, if your submission gets declined. If you ask, I explain. Above of all, I want this place to keep a strict atmosphere. Besides, it's obvious that everyone, including you, wants to see really good pieces, hm?

There are two kinds of them:

:bulletblack: A feature for contest winners;
:bulletblack: A group feature for the nicest and underappreciated artworks - once a seazon.

Feel free to send me a note, if something bothers you or you have got an idea.

It's not about liking or not - personally, I don't mind Disney, even though I prefer Studio Ghibli movies (: In this case it's in regard to the fact how the original tales and myths are turned by Disney into cute, sweet and happy stories. There's nothing wrong about that, of course, but this group is dedicated to the original tales, which are far from optimistic and positive in most cases.

I've yet to watch ALL of Studio Ghibli's films. Sweating a little...

I understand. You guys tend to grasp onto the original source material of those stories. I will always and forever love Disney and hold it so very close to my heart, but I also highly respect the dark and realistic themes of the original tales. Without Disney however, I truly believe that the world would be a much darker and more boring place. Often times people need that light-hearted form of entertainment in order to live happier and more fulfilling lives. And where better to give us that sense of escapism than the most magical tales from literally all around the world? And that's why Disney makes them kid-friendly while at the same time not too harmful to their intelligence, to give perhaps the only whimsical escapism the world has to offer a more friendly and welcoming appeal. Granted, not all of Disney is happy and bright, it's crucial that the stories have their rather dark moments as well in order to have them be fully fleshed, balanced and, if done exceptionally well, like to the umpth level, humanly complex.

I DON'T want to criticize you for your reasons as to why you prefer a certain art form. I only wish to explain to you why i love Disney so much.

I absolutely understand your point, and I agree with it. I only wanted to make this group about the things closer to the original tales, nothing besides that (:

I suppose that I love Ghibli movies as much as you love Disney, have a nice time watching them! (:

Thanks for that, and again, I TOTALLY understand.

Thank you, I have a feeling I'll feel the same way. :)
Thanks a lot for accepting, I read the rules
