What kind of art can be submitted here?
The best examples you may find in the Featured folder. As you can see, there are eight folders. The folder Featured is for the most accurate works, choosen by me. There's also a folder for contest entries. The group does not support photography and photomanipulation, but you may submit them to our favourites. For further info about the folders just see their descriptions inside.
No sweet pinky things. No abstract (don't confuse abstract with surreal). No Disneyish, shiny, sparkling, make-me-vomit-of-perfection creatures. No cliche gothic pictures like from Victoria Francis. In most cases manga won't be accepted either - there are really awesome manga pictures, of course, but it's just everywhere around dA, let's take a little rest from it.
Think of brothers Grimm, think of Discworld, of Tolkien, of Moomins (not a mistake), Lovecraft, Poe, of legends, of the Golden Age of Illustration, of imagination, of some twisted stories and myths - you will get an extra smile from me, if you illustrate something. Another one for subtle, storytelling things. For conteptual. For sublime colours.
Keep it clean.
Deviations containing nudity are accepted as long as they are kept clear. The reproduction of traditional art must be perfect (watermarks are good), no sketches, empty linearts or WIPs. Also remember, literature creations are accepted in English only. Fan art is fine. When submitting things like sculptures, jewerly or clothing, please send just one nice photo of one thing, not 10. And sorry, too low skills won't be accepted.
- If I notice you stealing art from others, you will be immidiately
and permamently kicked out, and also reported to the dA staff.
Do not be angry and discouraged, if your submission gets declined. If you ask, I explain. Above of all, I want this place to keep a strict atmosphere. Besides, it's obvious that everyone, including you, wants to see really good pieces, hm?
There is no limit of submissions.
Storaged deviations will be removed from the group.
Features
There are three kinds of them:
How can you tell someone is active?
Being active means such simple things like answering questions and commenting in journal entries, inviting new people, joining contests, asking questions, making suggestions, suggesting our pieces for DDs, featuring the group or its members in your own journal... and the list goes on, I think you are smart and able to imagine the rest. I can recall everyone, who is active. Each of the featured active members is given with a possibility of becoming GrimGloomTale's contributor for one year period.
- One more thing. I do not bite to the death and I am very
opened for your suggestions, so feel free to send me a note,
if something bothers you or you have got an idea.
